Our 2023 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon recently earned 98 points and Double Gold at the Sunset International Wine Competition!

A huge thank you to everyone who’s supported Shumacher Wines—from buying a bottle to joining our wine club. Getting to share this journey with all of you has been the best part.

Our new Cabernet Sauvignon comes from one of Napa Valley’s most historic and coveted sites in Rutherford, and today the vineyard remains one of Napa Valley’s benchmark sources for powerful, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon. This legendary vineyard site, combined with one of the best vintage years in recent history, produced an expressive, ultra-premium wine with layers of black cherry, cassis, blackberry, cocoa, cedar, graphite, and subtle dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied and polished, with concentrated dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and the unmistakable earthy elegance often known as Rutherford Dust. Rich, structured, and beautifully balanced, it finishes long with notes of blackberry, dark chocolate, and warm spice.

This is our most prestigious Cabernet Sauvignon to date, and it is extremely limited production. We can’t wait to share it with you! 🍷

Our new Cabernet Sauvignon comes from one of Napa Valley’s most historic and coveted sites in Rutherford, and today the vineyard remains one of Napa Valley’s benchmark sources for powerful, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon. This legendary vineyard site, combined with one of the best vintage years in recent history, produced an expressive, ultra-premium wine with layers of black cherry, cassis, blackberry, cocoa, cedar, graphite, and subtle dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied and polished, with concentrated dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and the unmistakable earthy elegance often known as Rutherford Dust. We both studied abroad there in college, have been back to Italy many times since, and it’s where we first truly fell in love with wine. Long before Shumacher Wines existed, some of our favorite wine memories happened in Italy and this trip is our chance to share that experience with you.

We’ll be staying at a beautiful villa overlooking Lake Trasimeno and visiting places like Pienza, Montepulciano, Siena, and Cortona. Last summer, we held our launch party at Two Travelers, so it feels very fitting to be back there this year for a winemaker pairing dinner!

We’ve been big fans of Two Travelers since they opened here in Temecula, and we’re proud to call everyone there our friends. We’ve always appreciated how thoughtful they are with wine, food, and hospitality, so we’re so excited to be collaborating with them on a multi-course pairing dinner.

On Tuesday, June 30th, we’ll be pouring a new lineup of Shumacher wines alongside a thoughtfully crafted menu from Chef Patrick, with each dish created to highlight the wine in the glass. The evening will feature our 2025 Los Carneros Sauvignon Blanc, 2025 Clements Hills Albariño, 2022 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2023 Sonoma Valley Blanc de Blancs Méthode Champenoise.

This wine comes from the Los Carneros AVA in Napa Valley, where the cooling influence from the bay helps preserve the freshness and natural acidity that we love in Sauvignon Blanc.

The wine is bright and mineral-driven, with layers of citrus, fresh herbs, and a subtle saline note that makes it incredibly easy to come back to for another glass. We wanted this wine to feel refreshing and vibrant, while still having texture and depth.

This release is a favorite of ours, and we’re excited to finally share it with you!

First up, we have our 2025 Albariño. This comes from the organically farmed Terra Alta Vineyard in the Clements Hills AVA in Lodi, where warm days and cool evenings allow for full flavor development while preserving natural acidity. A long, even growing season gave us beautiful balance and freshness, and the wine shows it—bright and lively with aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, honeydew, and white flowers. On the palate, you’ll find notes of lime, peach, nectarine, and pear, all wrapped in crisp acidity and a clean, refreshing finish.

We’ve been in the vineyards, overseeing the crush, the presses, and the fermentations in the cellar this season. This year’s Sonoma and Napa vineyards delivered beautifully. A slow, steady growing season allowed the grapes to develop full complexity while retaining their signature brightness and elegance.

We also brought in a few new vineyard sites, which we’re confident will produce exceptional wines. We can’t wait to share them with you as they come to life in the bottles over the next few years. 🍷

Our first wine pairing dinner on the farm was a resounding success! Guests came from LA and San Diego to enjoy an evening under the stars with our Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Sauvignon paired with delicious homemade dishes. 🍷

Our first wine pairing dinner on the farm was a resounding success! Guests came from LA and San Diego to enjoy an evening under the stars with our Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Sauvignon paired with delicious homemade dishes. 🍷

We’re serious about bubbles here at @shumacherwines. Our love for sparkling wine has taken us around the world—from the legendary cellars of Champagne and the hidden gems of Luxembourg to the vibrant vineyards of the Yarra Valley in Australia. So when the opportunity came to visit Valdobbiadene—the heart of top-tier Prosecco production—we couldn’t resist.

Italy has always held a special place in our wine journey (we even lived there for six months!), and this trip was a perfect reminder of why we fell in love with wine in the first place.

40 minutes outside of Venice, the full name of this wine region is Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G., and the entire region is a UNESCO world heritage site. Made from the Glera grape, the best Proseccos hail from the steep hills of Cartizze and Rive, and are aromatic and intense, with bright floral and fruit notes balanced with salinity and mineral richness from the soil. True to Italian hospitality, every tasting or glass of wine came with local cheese and cured meats, and some of the winemakers stayed to speak with us for hours in their vineyards and homes. This is a truly special place. 🇮🇹✨

Though vines were planted here as early as the 1800s, it was the historic Judgement of Paris in 1976 that brought global attention to the region, when Napa wines unexpectedly outshone some of France’s finest in a blind tasting.

Our Napa Cab continues that legacy, featuring grapes from the slopes of the renowned Howell Mountain in the newly minted Crystal Springs AVA, balanced with fruit from the Oak Knoll AVA on the valley floor. Elevated vineyards and cooler conditions yield a Cabernet Sauvignon of remarkable complexity—layered with notes of blackberry, violet, vanilla, spice, and savory herbs, all wrapped in refined tannins and a graceful structure. This elegant wine shines on its own, and also pairs beautifully with rosemary-crusted lamb, wild mushroom pasta, or aged cheese. 🍷

🍇🇱🇺 One of our favorite wine trips was to the Moselle region of Luxembourg (just across the border from France, and on the other side of the river from the more well-known Mosel wine region of Germany).

We were lucky to be able to visit during their annual spring wine festival, when local winemakers hold open houses to share all of their wines with the community. This small but vibrant wine region is home to crisp, mineral-driven Rieslings, elegant Pinot Noirs, and the beautifully crafted Crémant de Luxembourg—a sparkling wine made in the traditional method.

We especially love visiting small countries with unique wine cultures to draw inspiration from, and this hidden gem is absolutely worth a visit.
